(CNN) – To his supporters, Ted Kennedy was “the liberal lion.”

“The work begins anew, the hope rises again, and the dream lives on,” he said during a rousing speech at the 2008 Democratic National Convention brought the house down.

He passed away exactly one year later.

Now, a tribute is being built to a man who spent four decades of his life in the Senate.
