Kennedy Institute to Convene Bipartisan Congressional Panel on Finding Common Ground

Members of Congress from Illinois, Massachusetts, Oklahoma, and Delaware to discuss avenues to bipartisanship in modern era of divisiveness

BOSTON - On Monday, December 17, the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the United States Senate will welcome four Members of Congress, Congressman Rodney Davis (R, IL-13), Congressman Joe Kennedy III (D, MA-04), Congressman Markwayne Mullin (R, OK-02), and Congresswoman Lisa Blunt Rochester (D, DE-At Large) for a conversation on the state of affairs in Washington, D.C., opportunities for common ground in the 116th Congress, the political challenges they face, and how to foster a vibrant civic dialogue. This program is held in partnership with the United States Association of Former Members of Congress and moderated by Paul Kane, Senior Congressional Correspondent and Columnist for The Washington Post.

The Institute’s Across the Aisle series brings together government leaders with disparate ideologies and from different political parties who are collaborating on a common cause. Previous programs have included discussions with Senators Rob Portman, Jeanne Shaheen, and Sheldon Whitehouse; Former Senate Majority Leaders Trent Lott and Tom Daschle; Senators Patrick Leahy and Mike Lee; Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker and Senator Ed Markey; as well as Senators Cory Booker and John Cornyn on issues ranging from the opioid epidemic to criminal justice reform.
