Junot Diaz, Senator Warren, Governor Baker Headline EMK Institute Fall Programs

The Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the United States Senate is hosting Junot Díaz, Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), and Gov. Charlie Baker (R) at the Institute this fall as part of our “Getting To The Point” and “Across the Aisle” series of programs.

BOSTON, MA – The Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the United States Senate is hosting Junot Díaz, Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), and Gov. Charlie Baker ® at the Institute this fall as part of our “Getting To The Point” and “Across the Aisle” series of programs.

On Sunday, September 20th at 5pm, Pulitzer Prize winning author Junot Díaz will conduct a reading and discussion as we mark Hispanic Heritage Month and National Arts in Education Week.

Then, on Sunday, September 27th at 4pm, Senator Elizabeth Warren will deliver a lecture.

And finally, on Monday, October 26th at 6pm, Governor Charlie Baker and a panel of guests will discuss the opioid epidemic here in Massachusetts as a part of our “Across the Aisle” series.

The “Getting to the Point” series aims to convene individuals with diverse perspectives to discuss current issues and the challenges our government is facing. Getting to the Point will take on various formats from town halls to keynote lectures and panel discussions, and will showcase speakers from all walks of life, from Members of Congress and public officials to celebrities, business people, academics, and ordinary citizens.

The “Across the Aisle” series brings together government leaders with disparate ideologies and from different political parties who are collaborating on a common cause. In a moderated discussion, Across the Aisle will highlight the type of civil discourse, negotiation, collaboration, and leadership that leads to solutions for pressing problems. Held quarterly, the series will feature Members of Congress, governors, mayors, and other elected officials and both national and local issues.
