EMK Institute Statement on the Passing of Senator Alan Dixon

The following statement was released today by the Edward M. Kennedy Institute, on the passing of Senator Alan Dixon (D-IL):

“We are saddened by the passing of Senator Alan Dixon. A champion for the state of Illinois, Dixon always put people first—going above and beyond for his constituents. This was exemplified in his nickname ‘Al the Pal.’

Dixon served with distinction, not only in the Senate, but in the Illinois Legislature and later as the Chair of the BRAC Commission. His honesty and willingness to work across the aisle will be sorely missed.

We extend our deepest sympathies to the Dixon family.”
