Edward M. Kennedy Institute Board Member and Civil Rights Activist Martin Luther King III to Participate in Greater Boston Chamber’s City Awake Program on Youth Voting

BOSTON – On Tuesday, October 20, at 5:00 p.m., Martin Luther King III, global human rights activist and newest member of the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the United States Senate’s Board of Directors, will take part in City Awake: Empowering Youth to Vote, where he will speak to attendees about the importance of casting a ballot and being civically engaged. The program is organized by City Awake, a next generation platform run by the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce with a focus on retaining, attracting, and developing young civically-minded talent in the region, and will be in partnership with the Kennedy Institute.

Mr. King –– who recently helped launch the Kennedy Institute’s Just Vote initiative –– will share his journey in continuing his parents’ quest for equality and justice for all, his dedication to eradicating racism, militarism, and poverty, and why civic engagement and voter participation are essential to the democratic process.

Victoria Reggie Kennedy, Co-Founder and Board of Directors President for the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the United States Senate, will also be in attendance to provide welcoming remarks and an introduction of Mr. King for the program.
