Edward M. Kennedy Institute President Jean MacCormack Recognized as Boston Business Journal Women of Influence

BOSTON – Today the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the United States Senate was honored to congratulate Jean MacCormack, President of the Edward M. Kennedy Institute, on being named one of the Boston Business Journal’s 2015 Women Up Women of Influence. The Boston Business Journal annually recognizes women in Boston who have shown profound leadership in areas ranging from business, to academia, to non-profits.

Since joining the Institute as President in 2014, MacCormack readied the new center for civic engagement for it’s historic opening in March of 2015, and is currently directing the Institute through a successful first year open to the public.

“Jean has been committed to finding innovative ways to educate future generations of leaders throughout the Commonwealth her entire career,” said James Karam, Chairman of the Board of the Edward M. Kennedy Institute. “We are so privileged to have her leadership as we explore all that the Institute can accomplish.”

Prior to her role as President of the Institute, MacCormack served as the Chancellor of UMass Dartmouth for 13 years. During her time as Chancellor she oversaw a major transformation of the school, growing enrollment to 10,000 students and opening the UMass School of Law, Massachusetts first public law school. In addition to her position at the Institute, MacCormack serves as the Chair of the SouthCoast Hospitals Board and is a Director of the Bristol County Savings Bank.
