Historian Harlow Giles Unger spoke about his newly released book, Henry Clay: America’s Greatest Statesman. Henry Clay was a Kentucky lawyer, congressman, senator, secretary of state, and four-time presidential candidate, Clay was the youngest congressman ever elected Speaker of the House, and he produced historic compromises that postponed civil war for fifty years. Unger compared the Congress of Clay’s days with today’s legislative body.
