Victoria Reggie Kennedy statement in support of Senator John McCain

Senator John McCain is a remarkable man who has dedicated his life to his country and his family. He has had the strength to persevere through challenges that would have defeated most people, and I believe that same strength will see him through this battle with cancer. Senator McCain and my husband were wonderful friends and colleagues who partnered on many critical issues for this country. They also shared a philosophy that made the art of politics enjoyable and productive: public servants should take the issues seriously, but should never take themselves too seriously. Indeed, there were few people who could make Ted Kennedy laugh like John McCain, and I suspect John would say the same of Ted. We all look forward to having that McCain laugh back in the United States Senate very soon. We are praying for him, Cindy, and all of his family.
