Statement from Victoria Reggie Kennedy on the Passing of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was an iconic trailblazer for civil rights and gender equality who will be remembered alongside the great jurists in American history. She made a profound, positive difference in our lives and in the lives of generations to come.

RBG had a legendary intellect and extraordinary worth ethic. And though they might have different legal philosophies, she cherished and nurtured friendships with her colleagues on the Court. “Fight for things that you care about,” she said, “but do it in a way that will lead others to join you.” She was not afraid to disagree – even in a fiery dissent – if some colleagues did not join her, but she was never personally disagreeable. What a lesson for us all during these divided times.
