Betsy Rigby Joins Edward M. Kennedy Institute as New Chief Development Officer

BOSTON – Today the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the United States Senate announced that Betsy Rigby will join the organization’s leadership team as chief development officer. Rigby has nearly thirty years of experience in leading successful fundraising strategies for nonprofits in the greater Boston area.

“Betsy has a proven track record of driving advancement and support for mission-based institutions,” said Mary K. Grant, Ph.D., president of the Edward M. Kennedy Institute. “With her passion for our organization’s work and experience leading dynamic development teams, Betsy will be an asset to the Institute as we continue to expand our reach and community of supporters.”

In her new role, Rigby will lead the Institute’s fundraising operations, which includes major giving, annual giving, corporate and foundation support, membership, alumni relations, and the annual dinner.

“I am thrilled to be joining an organization with a mission as important and urgent as the Institute’s,” said Rigby. “I look forward to working with the entire team as we grow the strong network of philanthropic support for the excellent work taking place at the Institute to provide interactive civic education and inspire civic engagement.”

Rigby previously served as the chief development officer at the MGH Institute of Health Professions and as director of development with Partners Healthcare. She has worked with a number of nonprofit organizations since earning a Masters Degree from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Massachusetts chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
