Kennedy Institute to Host Massachusetts Trailblazers at March 19 Women in Leadership Forum
State legislators, council presidents, and mayor to share insight on personal experiences and importance of diverse representation in public service
BOSTON - On Tuesday, March 19, the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the United States Senate will convene a panel with Council Presidents Andrea Campbell of Boston and Damali Vidot of Chelsea, State Representatives Hannah Kane (R-11th Worcester) and Tram Nguyen (D-18th Essex), and Salem Mayor Kim Driscoll for a wide-ranging forum on their pathways to civic leadership, insights from the campaign trail to creating change in public office, and how to increase and diversify women’s political representation at all levels of government in the Commonwealth.
This program is held in partnership with AAUW Work Smart in Boston; Asian American Women’s Political Initiative; Center for Women in Politics and Public Policy at the University of Massachusetts Boston; The Chica Project; City of Boston; Mayor’s Office of Women’s Advancement, Emerge Massachusetts; Gloria Cordes Larson Center for Women in Business at Bentley University; Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce; The Latina Circle; League of Women Voters Massachusetts; Massachusetts Women’s Political Caucus; Spark Boston; Strong Women, Strong Girls; and YW Boston.
The panel will be moderated by Janet Wu, On the Record Anchor and WCVB Political Reporter.
The discussion is part of the Kennedy Institute’s Women in Leadership initiative, which convenes women from political and civic life to demonstrate the importance of women’s political participation and representation and highlight the diverse pathways to civic leadership. Programming includes inspiring speakers, workshops, and community partnerships.
