Edward M. Kennedy Institute to close in response to coronavirus public health emergency

In response to the coronavirus public health emergency, the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the United States Senate has made the decision to be closed to the public effective Thursday, March 12, in order to protect the public and mitigate community spread of COVID-19. The Kennedy Institute will continually monitor and assess the public health situation and will make a further determination regarding closure on Monday, April 6.

Daytime civic education programs, school visits, and evening public programs during this period will either be rescheduled or cancelled. Institute staff will contact those with upcoming scheduled events in the building to determine feasibility of rescheduling.

Beginning March 12, the Institute’s facility will undergo a deep cleaning and will be monitored by security and maintenance teams during the closure period. The Institute has implemented a work-from-home policy for all but essential staff.

The Edward M. Kennedy Institute prioritizes the health and safety of the community, and believes it is critical to make these decisions quickly. As more information becomes available, the Institute will communicate via its website and social channels.
