Congresswoman Katherine Clark to join Edward M. Kennedy Institute for virtual discussion on legislative priorities and 2020 elections

Member of House leadership will share insight into current deliberations on additional coronavirus relief and other congressional efforts

Boston, MA – On Thursday, September 3, at 1:00 p.m., the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the United States Senate will welcome Congresswoman Katherine Clark for an online conversation about several critical issues that lawmakers are focusing on through legislation or other approaches.

Congresswoman Katherine Clark (D, MA-05), Democratic Caucus vice chair, will share with attendees her valuable insight about the current state of Congress. Moderated by Kimberly Atkins, senior opinion writer at The Boston Globe, the discussion will include the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, Congresswoman Clark’s legislative initiatives, and the upcoming elections. Clark began her tenure after a special election in 2013, and is currently a member of the House Committee on Appropriations; Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education; Subcommittee on Transportation, Housing and Urban Development; and Democratic Steering and Policy Committee. Additionally, she is a member of 25 caucuses including the Bicameral Task Force on Climate Change and Pre-K Caucus.

While the Institute’s facility remains closed for the time being, its commitment to civic engagement and civic education is as strong and vibrant as ever. This program marks the Institute’s tenth interactive online offering which will be available both as a live event and as a recorded resource afterward.
