Kennedy Institute hosts May 7 evening conversation with experts about affordable housing issues in Massachusetts

BOSTON - On Tuesday, May 7, the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the United States Senate will host state and local leaders for a discussion about the housing challenges facing Massachusetts. Some issues expected to be addressed during the conversation include how the lack of affordable housing in the Commonwealth affects diverse communities as well as how the state is working with cities and towns across the Commonwealth to create a sustainable housing market.

The discussion is part of the Kennedy Institute’s Getting to the Point series that convenes individuals with diverse perspectives to discuss current issues and challenges facing the nation. The series takes on various formats – from town halls to keynote lectures and panel discussions – and showcases speakers from all walks of life. Previous events have included discussions with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, Georgia Congressman John Lewis, Senators Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders, Former Chief Official White House Photographer Pete Souza, MSNBC’s Katy Tur, The Daily Show’s Zhubin Parang, 19th U.S. Surgeon General Vivek Murthy, and others.

Conversation about housing challenges with Adam Chapdelaine, Town Manager, Town of Arlington, MA; Rachel Heller, CEO, Citizens’ Housing & Planning Association (CHAPA); Mike Kennealy, Secretary of Housing & Economic Development, Commonwealth of Massachusetts; Chrystal Kornegay, Executive Director, MassHousing. Adrian Walker, Columnist for The Boston Globe will serve as moderator.
